Does it ever feel like your life is slipping by too quickly? Or you wonder why it is that some days slip by more quickly than others? I’ve often wondered what causes a day to “fly by.” More importantly, how can we slow it down? I have the answer for you, and it came to me when least expected.

The answer woke me up instantly from deep slumber, demanding more research. In order to explain it, I must briefly explain a process you probably have not heard of called “hyperconvergence.”

Hyperconvergence is a highly technical process that many CTO’s and CIO’s understand. Here’s what you need to know about hyperconvergence: it is the process of storing data in such a way that it differentiates unique data points while converging (or combining) data points that are similar. Through this process, you are essentially exponentially shrinking the need for data storage.

Have you ever driven your usual route to home and don’t recall the majority of the drive?

Chances are you have. You see, the mind is the ultimate hyperconvergence system. Our brains are highly efficient, looking to save important files, and trash any not needed. Many of us have daily routines, we keep the same friends for many years, or live in one house for the majority of our lives. While these habits can be beneficial, they are not unique data points that our brain is able to detect and differentiate.

Our brains converge many memories together, including routines, patterns, or decisions that don’t differentiate themselves. Slightly frightening, don’t you agree?

This is why it is essential to have authentic conversations with potential clients instead of following a sales script. Instead of following a set menu each week, try a new recipe (if it’s terrible, there’s a unique and entertaining memory!).

If the idea that your life could become one big hyperconverged blur scares you, create unique data points tonight!

Have you experienced this in your professional or personal life?
